The Ruby Scarab Troupe (Paula, Patti, Thelma & Kristie) were chosen for the "People's Choice" Award in the Best Troupe Category at the East Coast Classic Competition held in Virginia Beach on May 17, 2008. 

Ruby Scarabs award winning dance, East Meets West, is performed with the music Leyla by James Brown and Hakim.  In 2004, James Brown & Hakim, Egypt's most popular pop artist, recorded Leyla resulting in the merger of two very popular but distinctly different music cultures.  This choreography is Ruby Scarab's tribute to these two music icons, The Godfather of Soul and the Prince of Shaabi.
